Fertilization is an important step in increasing the overall health and productivity of your pond or lake by promoting healthy, rapid growth of fish, plants and animals living in the water.

Fertilizer provides food to microscopic algae plants. Algae is eaten by tiny animals as well as insects which become food for small fish. The small fish, in turn, become food for larger fish forming a continuous and balanced food chain. Fertilization helps reduce and control aquatic weed problems as well by creating a shaded pond bottom not suitable for weeds to live and grow.

As not all ponds or lakes require fertilization, Davis Fish Farms/Pond and Lake Services would appreciate the opportunity to assess your pond or lake to determine if fertilization would be beneficial and make recommendations for an optimal fertilization schedule.
